Accepted into the MergeLane Accelerator

Seeing a need for better communication in marketing plans and leveraging my experience in building complex omnichannel programs, I conceived, designed, and launched a predictive marketing strategy platform called Hatch. This platform forecasted ROI and identified a market opportunity.

Fun and creative marketing campaigns can bring a smile, but behind the scenes, it’s a different story. For every campaign, program, and plan, marketing leaders must account for audiences, offers, and resources. They need to forecast every channel and budget every dollar, which adds up quickly. Despite spending trillions on media, 60% of companies consider their marketing ineffective. All of this can lead to extreme frustration.

Taking the Entrepreneurial Leap

Recognizing the need for businesses to plan effectively and optimize their spending, we created a solution that helps businesses organize campaigns, budget resources, forecast results, and clearly communicate their overall marketing strategies.

Early Concept

Accelerating Our New Business

As the Founder, I aimed to accelerate our business through education, network introductions, mentorship, and investment. In early 2016, we were accepted into two startup accelerators in Boulder, CO. My partner and I chose MergeLane and embarked on their 3-month program.

Joining an accelerator came with risks and uncertainties. It was a significant commitment with no guarantees. We were starting something from scratch.

As CEO and Founder, I was responsible for financial oversight, team leadership, business development, operational management, product strategy, investor relations, and customer relations.

MergeLane

MergeLane emphasizes businesses with the potential for significant impact. Since its founding, MergeLane has invested in 48 companies and built a network of 300 mentors and 600 investors. Their focus on conscious leadership and diverse leadership teams proved that such teams drive superior investor returns.

The accelerator was high-stakes and stressful, but the opportunity was worth the risk. We pushed ourselves and evolved our business. MergeLane provided funding opportunities, mentorship, partnerships, and crucial skills and knowledge, accelerating our business's growth.

Over the 3 months, we experienced a rich educational journey with practical, hands-on learning focused on entrepreneurship. MergeLane provided access to mentors, industry experts, investors, and other startup founders. This intensive support and resources sped up our growth trajectory, helping us achieve milestones faster than we could have independently. While this exposure led to increased visibility and new opportunities, we unfortunately did not reach our funding goal.

After several months of fundraising and significant personal investment, I faced the hard reality that we needed to dissolve Hatch and move on. We lacked the necessary funds and customer base to continue. It was difficult to let go, but transparency and honesty were crucial during this transition. I worked closely with my business partner, the team, investors, customers, and mentors to ensure a positive and respectful conclusion to our journey.
